Havenhuis Antwerpen, Antwerp – BE

The new head office of the Havenhuis in Antwerp floats above the former fire station in Port Kattendijk like a glittering diamond. The British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid designed a pronounced extension above the monumental building. Because of the view in all directions and the four equal facades of the building, Zaha Hadid decided not to make a horizontal extension, but instead a vertical one.

The design is based on historical analysis taking its environment into account . For example, the point of expansion is aimed at the Scheldt to look
like the bow of a ship. Triangular transparent and dense façade elements reflect the changing shades of the harbour and the sky. Flat and curved surfaces alternate like waves on the water.

Havenhuis Antwerpen was looking for an aesthetically pleasing, acoustic solution for small forms of consultation in their open office environment. And this was required without major changes to the existing interior. A flexible space in which it is possible to quietly conduct a 1-on-1 meeting, but also to organize a work meeting for a small group of people or to attend a skype meeting. After careful consideration Port of Antwerp has opted for Container Pod.

Container Pod
Container Pod is a unique, enclosed space in an open office environment. The glass walls offer a high sound density, increased acoustic comfort whilst retaining a sense of transparency. The glass door closes as standard in an aluminum door frame with a rubber seal. All aluminum profiles are finished in black anodised as standard. Container Pod has three standard sizes and can also be produced entirely according to your wishes.
